How come NH passing gay marriage yesterday isn't getting any attention like Iowa did?

It just seems to have happened and no one cared. How come NH passing gay marriage yesterday isn't getting any attention like Iowa did?
You know Reef, I'd rather no one cared then have a mob of religious fanatics and anti gay haters protesting till sundown.

Just cause it ain't on tv doesn't mean it ain't getting attention. How come NH passing gay marriage yesterday isn't getting any attention like Iowa did?
Well lot's of states have been legalizing gay marriage, so now when another state legalizes gay marriage, now a lot of people are just like ';oh, they legalized gay marriage, another state doing the thing';, so it isn't really major news anymore as most people now expect that eventually the majority of states will legalize gay marriage. There's a few states that may eventually have to be forced by the federal government to legalize it, but they'll have to repeal DOMA to do that.
gay marriage has been getting tossed back and forth between the branches of government for a while there, everyone knew it would be approved eventually

iowa was the first state to approve gay marriage after prop 8 and it is much more conservative than the other states

if new york manages to get their act together, i guarantee you people will report on it. it is after all the 3rd largest state
There is a who article about it in my newspaper. (I live in DE.)

I was surprised to learn that the governor doesn't approve of gay marriage, but made sure that the bill specifically stated that gay marriages were just as legitimate as straight marriages.

GO NEW HAMPSHIRE!
I think Iowa really threw everyone for a loop (in a good way) b/c it's not in the Northeast. I mean, Iowa, of all states declare gay marriage legal? Now THAT'S a story. NH? Not so much - it's surrounded by Conn, MA, Vermont - all states that have made it legal, so it's not as surprising!
Good Question! I went to a couple new sites during the night and couldn't even find the story!

That's the heterosexist mainstream media for you. Now that we're getting on a roll they're pretending it isn't happening.
i don't know, good question. maybe it's b/c of the locations of the states? it's like who would've ever thought that IOWA, of all states, would legalize gay marriage?!
I noticed that too.

Maybe because it is now the sixth state, it is no longer newsworthy anymore?

Hopefully the momentum will keep going and it will become a non-issue for most people.
Oh it was noticed, the fact that the discussion had been in the news several times already and it looked then as if it would pass may have softened the shock.
Because the media has decided that the picking apart of Judge Sonia Sotomayor is more news worthy.

But I did a happy little gay dance for NH yesterday!

L
Seriously, I may be out of the loop, but I thought NH was one of the first to have approved it. When I saw the news I thought they were rehashing older stuff.
It's becoming something close to 'normal', which is what was supposed to happen all along. I myself am ecstatic. :]
It's happening all over - it isn't really news anymore. I guess people have seen the world isn't going to end because of this.
I guess people have seen the light and everyone already knows.
