I am getting married soon. It is an outside wedding at my soon-to-be in-laws house. I am a Christian but I do not attend a church nor do I know an ordained minister personally so I would like to have a judge or justice of the peace to perform the ceremony. The only problem is that I have no idea how to go about getting one. I live in North Carolina if that helps. I was hoping that someone would be able to tell me where to get someone to marry my fiance and I.How do I get someone to come to my house and perform my marriage ceremony?
I would suggest going to a church and have a chat with the vicar there - see what they say, ask if it is possible and how you would go about it.
They will be able to tell you if you are able to do it this way, if not you will have to choose something else. But again, if it is viable, they will be able to tell you what steps to take to follow it up. Good luck with it!How do I get someone to come to my house and perform my marriage ceremony?
Its easy really. Simply pull out your phone book and look up Justice of the peace in there. You can also use the yellow pages to look up one. In non denominational churchs, sometimes they'll do weddings without knowing you and go to where you'd like them to go.
If i knew the town, i'd help you look them up. Just look up Justice of the Peace... it normally is the easiest route to go. You can also call your local courthouse, justice of the peace department and ask if any do outside the court house weddings? Some might.
You can get a justice of the peace to come out and do the wedding. The wedding usually isn't that long with a JoP but it usually is the only person that can do anything outside of a church or courthouse. Good Luck!
Typically, your local court house has a list of officiants on file that they approve of and recognize. I know in my county, we don't have a justice of the peace.
