it's not the ';marriage'; I have a problem with it's the activist AGENDA that goes with it. They are shoving this down our throats!
Don't threaten churches with lawsuits that refuse to perform gay marriages! The activists don't allow religion to stay out of the argument.
Whether you like it or not, MOST Americans are against gay marriage. This won't be changing soon. What is the problem with gay marriage?
In America, thanks to religion, heterosexism is now a core belief, but if we are going to claim to be a fair nation, we need to afford rights to all people equally.
It wasn't so very long ago when blacks started their ';activist AGENDA';. I believe it was known as the Civil Rights Movement.

Let's see if I can come up with some crazy answers that sound like they came off one of those anti-gay websites:
1. If gay people are allowed to marry, our children will think it's ok to be gay, and then they'll ALL be GAY!
2. If gay people are allowed to marry, it will make the hetero marriages less special because they can't procreate, but ';we can';
3. If gay people are allowed to marry, it will give the gays civil rights they didn't have before and we are trying to avoid that as much as possible...
4. If gay people are allowed to marry, they will somehow overthrow the government, every day will be gay pride parade day, queens will run rampant down the streets and there will be glitter EVERYWHERE!
5. (and my favorite) If gay people are allowed to marry, being gay will become accepted and then they will force everyone to be gay, because obviously since heterosexuals are trying to get rid of gay people, it means that gay people are trying to get rid of heteros.
Married homosexuals can not naturally produce offspring. That really shouldn't be a problem, seeing as how there are enough kids as is.
Also, legalizing gay marriage might get some religious institutions into trouble if they refuse to marry a gay couple, and they could get sued and lose their tax exemption status.
Those are feeble arguments at best, every other argument is based on homophobia and religion. Why gay marriage is still illegal, I don't know.
ok I will always disagree with the idea that people have no choice about their sexuality (because with proper motivation anyone could be anything gay straight, even made to believe they are a dog etc) but if gays are given the right to marry or enter a legal union that means that insurance companies will have to provide coverage of that other person. Which means higher insurance premium's and everything else. Look as far as I'm concerned the government already does enough crap I don't agree with but so long as my rights are not made secondary I could just about care less. No I'm not trying to bash anyone but you did asked for opinions. Good Luck
It not just not agreeing with them. ANYONE can marry anyone. Which will say hey ill marry my best friend to get her work benefits. They will have to teach it in schools that it is acceptable, making young children be confused and instead of having a 'boyfriend' in the second grade they'll have a 'girlfriend' do you really think is right for a group of kinder gardeners story book time to be about a prince and prince falling madly in love and living happily ever after instead of a prince and princess? Churches will eventually dissapear because they won't marry gay couples which will be considered 'discrimination' ECT ECT.
There is no problem with gay marriage and I completely agree with you. Its not like you can choose to be gay even though I am straight I still think that gays should have equal rights, well I bet their is some straight people out their who only care that they have it good. So, I do hope gays can eventually marry because they deserve to be happy just like anyone else.
Nothing. I read where religious leaders contend it is not a right since your sexuality is a choice. Your race in comparison is not. I totally disagree with that, and I disagree you can be anything you want to be sexually without perhaps imposing debilitating brain washing. Many gay men start out and would do anything to be straight, but there aren't any quick fix clinics out there. Just mean spirited people who like to place themselves on a pedestal. I believe Jesus will judge their mean spirited-ness as evil.
I'm Christian. I think they should be able to be married. It's not going to have a major affect. They'll just be wearing rings and have more rights. It will not hurt me. I don't think God wants us to be miserable. True, it's meant for a man and woman. But just because someones gay doesn't mean they don't love the same way straight people do.
I'm christian
I'm straight
So I don't gain anything. There's some proof that not everyone is a hypocrite.
I'm not sure that there is another reason besides religion. Maybe scientific? Nah that probably wouldn't work. There really is no other reason than religion and maybe some people find it disturbing. Besides that nothing.
there is no problem with gay marriage. civilized countries recognize their rights of their citizens.
i live in a civilized country.
Marriage was originally completely religious, but now that anyone(except for gay people) can be married, religious or not, i think that everyone should have the same rights.
Religion and many religious leaders are behind all of the hypocritical bigotry against gay love and marriage!
