Will God punish people who aren't gay because their country allowed gay marriage?

I'm not very religious, so I don't know much about the religious reasons for/against gay marriage. I was just wondering if the Bible says that people who are not gay will go to Hell because they lived in an area that allowed gay marriage? I don't think it does. If it doesn't say that, then what is then why are people against gay government weddings? Do they think the gov will force churches to perform them or something ?Will God punish people who aren't gay because their country allowed gay marriage?
Some people believe that homosexuality, extra-marital affairs, shellfish or other foods, is an abomination in the eyes of God. Some people also believe that God is okay with slavery. I think some people use THE BIBLE to justify their own beliefs about gay people or gay marriages. As for what happens as gay marriages become legal, people THINK all kinds of stuff--that we are losing our churches, our schools, our money, our country, our families, etc. Some people believe their children will become gay. Some are more hysterical than others. I can speak for myself in saying the more hysterical my thinking, the further I am away from God.





I believe in a loving God not a punishing one. He loves gays and straights equally. He loves those who are for and those who are against gay marriage equally. I believe some people (not God) are disgusted, hateful, fearful, intolerant, or prejudiced towards gays and that is why they are against gay marriage.





There are many principles in THE BIBLE I agree with and some I don't. I can make a choice to take what I need and leave the rest or try to use all of it. As for me, as much as I'd like to be able to use all of it, I like shrimp, and it's better for me to use parts of THE BIBLE that work for me, not those which work against me or others.

I don't know how old you are, but the changes I've witnessed just in my 42 years tell me we are very close to the end of Christian America anyway. Those of us who oppose gay marriage on religious or any other grounds have free speech to do so.
You have some confused people answering here! Here is what the Bible says about homosexuality....it is a sin. God created woman for the man, and God tells us in the Holy Bible that it is a man and woman who are to unite in marriage. So, this being said, there is no reason why God would punish those who live in a country where gay marriage is allowed. We don't have to participate! Homosexuality is a sin, just as ANY sex outside of marriage is a sin. Sex is blessed by God when it is within the boundaries of marriage. It is also blessed by God when it is within His laws of what marriage constitutes (man and woman only). I didn't make the rules---HE DID! But He gives us the freedom of choice, so if we choose to break His laws and rules, then we will pay a price for it, plain and simple.
It's sad that too many people have been lied to where it concerns homosexuality and gay marriage, because the Bible was translated wrong! I'm going to post a link that explains what the Bible really states about homosexuality and gay marriage, because gay marriage is in the Bible. However, first I'm going to explain how the Bible has been translated wrong with a simple example. Most people are taught that Jesus was a carpenter, well actually the word for that in the original language was a person that worked with their hands--Jesus was most likely a mason as he most likely worked with stones. See, it's easy how things get mixed up.





Furthermore, those that believe the Bible states homosexuality is wrong shouldn't eat shellfish, they shouldn't be wearing two different fabrics at the same time, and a man should not touch a bed (let alone sleep in one) that a woman has slept in while she's had her period because all of those things are in the Bible as well, but many don't pay attention to that. Furthermore, it's also in the Bible that if a child disobeys their parents, the child should be stoned! Yes, literally stoned to death!

The whole issue of Gay marriage is ridiculous. They want to get married, Let them get married. What s the problem? It is just another way for politicians to screw up your mind.


And for the religious Folks? They are just puppets of the Vatican.
I don't think God deals with us by political affiliation. I think he deals with us on a individual basis.





In the bible with Sodom and Gomorrah, they couldn't find anybody that was righteous, so that is why they got the beat down applied.
A Christian can not condone or justify sin. With that said we are judge on our own beliefs and actions not other peoples actions. If we ever say it is ok to be gay we are condoning sin and that goes against God's word. We would have to repent.

That being said, those who do not engage in gay sex should not be punished (under the Bible). Gay marriage is not a sin -- only the act of sleeping with someone of the same sex ... according to the Bible.
