Is marriage a given right or is it categorized as something else?

As in is marriage a given right or is it something else? People argue that marriage is a given right, but I have heard other things it has been categorized under. What do people think? Is marriage a given right or is it categorized as something else?
Marriage is right that every relationship should have. Is marriage a given right or is it categorized as something else?
Marriage started as business contract addressing property distribution and provisions for children, if any. The question of it's being a ';right'; is comparatively recent and is the result of Common Law granting special privileges to people so described. Those privileges are now being denied to people who don't conform to certain religious traditional conventions of what a marriage may be, despite the fact that, historically, those traditions have never been universal. From a purely pragmatic viewpoint people have only those rights they can defend, either in court or by force of arms, so marriage would be ';taken'; right rather than a ';given'; one.
a ';right'; to be able to marry?? Of course it's not a right. Rights are never really ';given'; anyways. They are taken. Marriage is a religious institution, not a right. At least not yet, because it hasn't been stolen and declared one. Although it might be eventually.
Marriage is an institution created by and enforced upon man !!
marriage started as nothing more than a license to procreate.

therefore i don't think gays should marry. what's the point?

hope this helped

I think that anyone should have the right to get married, as long as you are not related to each other.
