Can i still become a US citizen ,i have my interview in few days ,do i need to hire a lawer?I have filed for my citizenship based on marriage ,but just before my interview i got seperated ?
It depends. If you have been a permanent resident more than 5 years, when you have your interview, you may ask to change your application based on 5 years instead of 3 yr marriageI have filed for my citizenship based on marriage ,but just before my interview i got seperated ?
you may be required to wait another 2 years.
3 years if you are still married to a US citizen,
5 years if you are NOT married to a US citizen.
