Why do citizens not get to vote against DIVORCE but get to vote against homosexual marriage?

The whole voting for or against homosexual marriage is really pathetic, why? Cause it's based on religion (the bible). The reason people get to vote against homosexual marriage is because god thinks it's an abonimation. Very well, god doesn't like divorce either. So why don't we get to vote against divorce? Or is it ok for heterosexuals to marry and divorce at will, while homosexuals who really love each other don't have the chance to even marry once?Why do citizens not get to vote against DIVORCE but get to vote against homosexual marriage?
Poor kids... they've all missed the point. Clearly nobody here has heard of the argument - the fact that gay marriage isn't a threat to the marriage institution; divorce is.





Hell, why is everyone all shiny and happy about freaking animal rights, but gay rights are so hard for people to grant? Oops, I'm pointing out the blatantly obvious implication that the right-wingers have; silly me! I'm not supposed to make clear the fact that they believe they are all above everyone else instead of equal. And of course we all have to shut up about the other fact - about how they think of us as animals, and less than animals. It's not politically correct to say so, of course, and many are in denial of that, but the implication and the undercurrent are there.

Because of democracy.





It's the majority rule. It's not important what decisions are based on, only what the decision is. And not everyone who is religious is disturbed by the idea of homosexual relations between people, just as not every non-religious person thinks it should be encouraged. Some people think for themselves and go on the evidence they observe in their own life rather than jumping on left or right wing bandwagons.





You make a lot of assumptions in your question. I would recommend you examine your own bias more thoroughly before looking at everyone else's.
It's all about the perception to society. And society tends to view homosexual marriage as a deviant action. It is important to note that deviance, which simply means, ';a recognized violation of cultural norms,'; is not a negative label. While divorce probably was considered deviance back in the 50's, sadly it has become commonplace in today's society. Homosexual marriage is considered deviant mainly because most people don't understand it. And when people don't understand something, it scares them and they tend to oppose it if confronted with it.

If it were up to me no-fault divorce would be illegal as well as gay marriage.

Because they are turning a blind eye to this sin, in order to suit their own self serving desires. That is not true christianity. God defines divorce and remarriage as Adultery, and it is mentioned on par with homosexuality in the new testiment.





The bible commands married ';christian'; women if they so choose to separate or divorce their spouse - they are to remain single OR reconcile with thier spouse - there are no other options..- if not the word of god defines her as an ';adulteress';.





Mark 10:11He answered, ';Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.';





Again: Romans 7:3 So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.





1 Corinthians 10To the married I give this COMMAND (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

Jesus spoke a great deal about adultery being a serious sin, and we are commanded to remain single, pure and holy or reconcile to our spouse by the lord...we die to sin... if we live in christ.

Actually, interracial marriage is higher priority to God's orders, or at least to the Fundamentalist Christian.
