Does a immigrant become a citizen thru marriage?

If not does it help any to get married? Does it make it easier? Does it extend any time limit they might have?Does a immigrant become a citizen thru marriage?
Immigrants can become citizens through marriage, and doing so reduces the amount of time required to be a permanent resident before applying for citizenship. If you are not a legal permanent resident, your fiancee/spouse can apply for you to become a permanent resident and the process is much faster.Does a immigrant become a citizen thru marriage?
No, not at all.
The answer is yes (Im guessing you mean US citizen).

I dont think it makes it any easier. They get looked at pretty hard to make sure that isnt the only reason they got married. But the thing to watch out for is that overseas many people THINK its an easy way to become a US citizen so you have to watch out for people trying it.
No and No

sure it helps but because of fraud they had to change the law
Buddy I'm a real live American and i have a Mexican wife for 7 years now, she lives down in Mexico and here i am like a fool living in America, bottom line is yes you can get citizenship thru marriage if you live long enough.
well i was with my love for 3 years i was told thru a lawyer to go to nigeria and marry him that he would come back with me ..well surpise the canadian embassy refused him,,,so i came back to canada alone,,then he refilled and still was refused why?%26gt; because we r marrried...that made it harder because to them he would not return to his country,,,i became a nigerian citizen but not him as canadian...but if the person you r with is with you now yuh it would help but not in becoming candain or american citizen,,,daim i just hate how the governement decides the fait of ppl in love
Very rarely. Some countries allow it but it's very rare to be given citizenship solely based on marriage. Marriage usually entitles you to a marriage visa (sponsored by your spouse) although you can get ones under civil partnership/defactos as well. Usually marriage can help (as you have a legitimate reason to be in the country and you need less years in the country before you can apply) but there is a certain amount of time that you are required to stay married and live in the country.

None of the major countries allow for it.
In most countries, marriage to a citizen guarantees a visa or even permanent resident status, subject to some checks to ensure that the marriage is valid, and not made just for visa purposes. In many countries, the time it takes to get citizenship is shorter for people married to a citizen than for others. In a few countries, marriage to a citizen gives automatic citizenship.
It is still a difficult, lengthy process but it is easier once an immigrant has a spouse who is an American citizen.

If the immigration department suspects the marriage is not on the up and up or doesn't last a predetermined timeframe then be ready for a battle that could end up with no citizenship.
all immigrants have to run the hundred in 4 secs.
