Are they really going to teach gay marriage in school?

I'm against prop 8, but would they really teach gay marriage in schools? It doesn't really make any sense why that would be a topic for teachers to teach. And if they do teach gay marriage in school what's the worst that could happen? Do you think it would turn your child gay? They say that gay people's brains are different from straight people's brains and that in develops at a young age anyway. so if for some odd reason that they do teach gay marriage in school would it really be that bad?Are they really going to teach gay marriage in school?
It's right-wing propaganda. They don't really teach about marriage per se in public school now, why would they teach specifically about gay marriage? And aren't stories about gay marriage part of 'current events' anyway? They just don't want it taught about in any kind of positive, or even neutral way.

Ask yourself do they teach regular marriage in school, were you ever even taught about marriage in school? I know I wasn't.





The only support they have to gay marriage being taught in schools was some 2nd grade teacher in Massachusetts read her class a story about a prince that married another prince. It wasn't a ';required part of the curriculum'; and she wasn't preaching about marriage or the morals behind it, it was merely a story.

Why would it turn a child gay? Gay children hear about straight marriage all the time, does that make them 'turn' straight? There is no proof that you aren't born gay and I doubt anything could 'turn' a child homosexual. The only thing it will do is promote tolerance and allow more closet homosexuals to be able to freely express their sexuality.
I believe you're referring to the stories of the teacher taking kids to a gay wedding... heres my opinion.





Its more to show kids that you should never allow people to discriminate against you or walk all over you. This is a huge civil rights issue, probably the most important one in our lifetime. It shows kids that history is being made RIGHT NOW and RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM and they can be a part of history instead of letting others do it. In school all you do is learn about what OTHER people did, and you dont learn that YOU can be the person who stands up and says ';I will NOT sit in the back of the bus.'; So I think that they should learn about it and if the parents all agree, I think field trips to same-sex marriages (as long as the couple agrees) is warranted.





Being gay isnt a choice. We all have similar brains, gay people do not have a different brain than a straight person. Its not like we have square brains with complementary colors and straight people have oval brains with clashing colors. lol. So you can't ';turn'; someone gay.

and i dont think it would be that bad either. all it would be doing is just letting children know that there is an alternative out there, and its okay to be in that alternative.

Teaching gay marriage won't influence anyone to be gay. It might even be a plus because the teachers will teach that it's okay to be gay. %26amp; I bet they won't just teach gay marriage they'll teach how marriage is between two lovers, not just a man and a woman.
Which curriculum course would gay marriage come up under, I wonder? But if it is a Social Science, and any marriage is to be discussed, then yes, all forms of marriage should be brought up, me thinks.
no, they will not teach about gay marriage. they will teach respect and nondiscrimination against people who are different from the majority including homosexuals, but that is taught and will be taught regardless of what happens with prop 8.
They are not going to ';teach'; any kind of marriage in school, gay or otherwise. Hopefully if the subject comes up now or months from now, the issue of gay unions is treated with respect.
No, they will not. I never got taught about regular marriage in schools and even if they did, 'oh well!' Kids need to learn that being gay; it is a part of life.

That isn't true. It's an outright lie in fact. Teaching about gay marriage cannot make someone gay. Gay peoples brains vary slightly in the attraction area of the brain.
