Gays should definitely have the same rights. What is the harm in letting two happy people get married and commit to each other?What did you think of the gay marriage ban amendment being defeated today?
Let them have the same rights as everyone else. What does it hurt if they have a document that says marriage certificate. They are living together anyways as a couple whether you or I think its right or wrong.
I think they never should have even introduced that amendment. Equality for all!

So let me explain.





First and foremost, there are a lot of more important issues facing America than passing a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.


The war on terror, health care, education, oil prices.


You get the idea.





Secondly, while I don't believe that homosexual marriage should be defined the same as a heterosexual marriage, I do believe that same-sex couples should enjoy the benefits in the form of civil unions and all the rights and privileges that go along with that.





I don't want government legislating morality.


This includes other hot-button issues such as abortion and right-to-life (remember the Terri Schiavo case last year?).


Stay out of our private lives, thank you very much.
I'm gay and agree, but why is this coming up RIGHT NOW? No one is asking that question...

cause we know if ur religious it is wrong; but if two people love each other well ..... but..... no amendment to the constitution. but you have to be fair..So.. it was all about having it on the front burner for the G.O.P., to rally up support for G.W., in my opinion.ok : now get back to work on immigration reform and the things that really are pressing for the U.S. right now
I think those politicians need to obey the public and ban gay marriage. The people don't want it. Some liberal senators like to stand for gays only because they are being funded by gays and ultra liberals. Whatever. But each Senator knows that the bulk of the populace they represent is against gay marriage. yet, they vote against the people that elected them!!! Let's get it to the poles and see what the people really want.
I believe that gay marriage is sinful, but I don't believe that any government should rule on the matter unless the Constitution of that country specifically addresses the matter. In our case, it doesn't and our Forefathers would agree that it is not the Federal Union's job to monitor or restrict ';sinful'; behavior. The Constitution DOES though allow for the separate states to pass laws which may further limit our freedoms as the states desire. In this case though this was a federal movement and I strongly disagree with them getting involved. Great question!
