What do you think about same sex marriage in Maine?

Its morally wrong. I think like this, if 2 human beings can not make another human being ';together'; that is by Mans seed and Women's Egg then its not right remember that God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve that`s my opinion and I will live by it forever.It used to be that some people couldn't help being gay because of hormone issues now it seems more to be a new age choice they make just because everyone else is doing it. You never ever hear of this stuff in the animal kingdom, like I always say I have more respect for animals then humans at times, I don't call this gay bashing I call it natural instincts and Godly wisdom.





ADD ON: One person answered in here and said ';Lets leave religion out of it'; My point exactly , when you leave God out of the picture it only makes you think you can handle something thats wrong by blinding yourself. perhaps leaving the religion out makes you think your less or feel less guilty of a wrong doing.

Why are you against same-sex marriage?





This issue has nothing to do with ethics and morals. It has to do with equality under the LAWS of the United States of America. Whether or not you are religious and believe in some sort of religious text which supposedly preaches against homosexuality doesn't MATTER. The laws of our nation--as mandated by the Constitution!--are to be secular and have no influence by religious texts.





If you are an ethical and moral person and a law-abiding citizen of the United States you will realize that legally there is no reason any person should be denied the right to marry.
I have nothing against gay marriage, actually I am for it.





Lets leave the religious part out of it. If 2 person love and care for each other why can't they benefit from it as we do in terms of health care coverage, financial responsibilities, common share of assets etc.





I know two man who've been together for 30 years. They have cared and loved each other for all those years with more respect than many usual male/female couples. At the end one of them was suffering from cancer and he could not benefit from his partner's insurance. His partner had to leave his job and take care of him full time, and of course he could not, in his turn, benefit from his own insurance cause they were not married.





Remember when divorcee and single mothers were hiden away, when they were a shame on the family and were not accepted by society? well it's the same with gay marriage. One day, it will be as common for 2 men to marry as it is for a man and a woman today.





ADD: For those who think it is a sin for 2 person of same sex to marry. We're talking legal union here, not Church marriage. Also, who are we to point out others deadly sins? You identify 2 men loving each other as sinful but can I go into your house and point out your sins? each time you ignored your spouse, each time you cursed, each time you looked at your neighbor with envy! The world would be a better place if we all worried about our own soul before pointing the finger at others.





ADD: There are over 400 animal species who have homosexual behaviors, starting with monkeys, daulphins, 50% of pinguins are same sex couples.
Yeah it is not nature for a man to want a man and a woman to want a woman. However why tell other people how to live? If both people are adults and want to be with each other then why stop them?





Also allowing gay marriage makes more jobs for the state and more income for bakers, photographers, videographers, reception halls, caterers, etc. It increases revenue in the state. Also all these people have to apply for marriage licenses so the state gets a little more money as well because of all the new marriages allowed.





Also marriage encourages people to be monogamous and not sleep around and spread STDs. So why prevent marriage? There are ONLY pluses to gay people getting married, no negatives.
I'm all for same sex marriage


If two people really love each other and want


A holy union then they should be able to


No matter if its a women and a man


Or a man and a man


Or a women and a women.


Plus you're denying people there rights


It's unconstitutional equal rights for all


After all this is American right?








(Also about the man's seed and woman's egg; to all women can make babies so should they not marry?)

I don't think OUR morals or religion should play into it. I don't think any religion should play into making laws at all. Religion and state are separate, right?





And to say it's not natural? Who are we to say it isn't natural? You can't control your race or sex, so how can you possibly control whether you're straight or gay? Do you honestly believe someone would choose to be gay or bisexual? I'm sure thousands and thousands of people sign up for that daily because being made fun of and oppressed sounds like a good time.





These are people we're talking about. People who need love, nurturing, and support just like everyone else. They shouldn't be hated and abused because they aren't like you.





Go Maine! Hopefully, the rest of the states begin to follow.
I'm completely for equal rights.


It wasn't so long ago when people of different color weren't allowed the same rights. Now we are disgusted when we think of how ridiculously intolerant that was. It won't be long before each State will be mandated to allow equal rights for marriage. The day is coming (dramatic music...)

I think it should be legal everywhere. It doesn't affect anyone else if 2 people of the same sex get married. I mean does it affect you in any way when I marry my fiance (who is a man)? No, You don't care that I am going to marry him, so why care if I had wanted to marry a girl?

well i think if they can change the definition of marriage to make them happy then why can't i change it to make me happy. i want to be able to have 6 wives. and wait i have a friend that really loves his dog maybe we should change it for him also. but wait there's that pervert down the street that wants it changed for him too. it is a slippery slope that we are on.


don't believe me? look at gun control. one step at a time they keep taking them from us and they won't stop until they get them.look at seat belt laws. when they past them they said they would never pull you over just for your seat belt. now it's click it or ticket
i think it should be legal in every state . just because someone is gay don't make them less of a person they have right just as we do as man a woman we marry the man or woman we love why can't they so what if there the same sex.
Doesn't bother me one bit. I see many gay couples who are better parents and partners than straight couples.
I used to say ';to each his own'; but that doesn't make our society any better. In fact it's gotten pretty immoral if you ask me.
