Well, my mother married an Australian we are American. We lived in Australia for a long time but my mom stayed an American citizen and so did we. At the age of 16 the child can choose what citizenship they would like to be if they still live in the country that is not thier own. We now live in America so its a good think we didn't change citizenship. And the woman nor her child need to. My Step-father actually is now an American citizen so he can vote and all of that.
