What is the legal status of Gay marriage in CA?

I know it was overturned last election but is this being contested in court?

In Vermont, the most interesting argument I saw against gay marriage was by a native Vermonter who didn't want rich gay couples building expensive houses in Vermont and raising the property tax. He did care at all about people being gay or not, but he didn't want his land to be reassessed. What is the legal status of Gay marriage in CA?
The CSSC has 90 days in which to render their decision on the constitutionality of Prop 8 AND the 18,000 SSMs that happended prior to Prop 8's passage when SSMs were legal. The court can extend their decision date if they need more time to deliberate the case.

So, for right now, those 18,000 SSM are STILL valid. That definitely looks like the one thing that the court looks firm on %26amp; will NOT overturn. As far as the court's decision? At the very earliest, we will know the fate of Prop 8 in June 2009. The possibility of Prop 8 being overturned %26amp; ruled unconstitutional looks bleak, at best.

CA LGBTs still have domestic partnerships, but not marriage. But those couples who were married before Prop 8 passed are still married unless the court rules differently in their verdict. What is the legal status of Gay marriage in CA?
As far as I know, Civil Unions are still recognized and Gay Marriage is (temporarily?) out of order due to the popular vote.
