Religious people have this notion that if America allows same-sex couples to get married legal; across the country, that some how it will have a devastating and negative impact on the concept of marriage.
So where are they getting this idea from?On what bases do religious people claim that same-sex marriage threatens the concept of marriage?
If, as you say, you don't know how same-sex marriage threatens the concept of marriage, means that you have no common sense or simply you don't want to use it, so giving you any kind of reasons is a total waste of time because no reason will be good enough for you. You are simply looking for a non sense discussion for which you already made up your mind.On what bases do religious people claim that same-sex marriage threatens the concept of marriage?
This is one of the more complicated issues of our time.
Some religious people are probably against gay marriage because they don't like gay people. Some religious people think it's anti-biblical. Then, there's some that's not so sure that is what marriage is supposed to be.
I tend to be more in the 3rd camp.
At the crux of the argument, lies the question, ';What is marriage?'; For some it's a union of two people. For others, it's a way to get a tax deduction. And then some people view it as an actual spiritual ceremony.
As a Catholic, I don't have a problem with gay people, they can have their relationships all they want. But in our belief system, a marriage is more than just ';two people in love';. It's a covenant with God, and the procreation of life.
Marriage is about creating life.
To me, it boils down to, if a ';life'; (children) is not intended to be created by the couple, then it cannot be by definition a ';marriage';
To a Christian, the word marriage is much more than simply a legal term. It represents the union of a man and a woman, sanctified and blessed by God. To suggest that the union of a man with a man or a woman with a woman is, or in any way could be, sanctified by God is an abomination and denigrates the word.
Same sex marriage is wrong and unnatural. It confuses the very young children into thinking something is okay when it's not.
No one is against gays having equal rights, so I don't understand why they want to hijack a word that to many people means a holy commitment before God. I remember when the word gay used to mean happy.
What is wrong with civil unions? To my knowledge, not one homosexual has ever answered that question.
I don't feel that way. I just feel that God doesn't recognize them as a legitimate marriage. And, I can understand why most Christians would want to ban it. But, I don't see America become any sort of utopia in the near future. So, I don't know what real difference it would make to ban it.
As a Christian, I've never understood this as a plausible defense * against * allowing gay marriages to be recognized.
I don't think I've ever heard of two people divorcing because of ';those married gays down the street';. Our marriages are * far * more endangered by our own pride and recalcitrance.
On the basis that it's not marriage but a social sham catering to a group of self serving antagonists......
On what basis do homosexuals ostracize and threaten people who after being gay decided to go straight?
Gay is a brainwashing cult.
The universal principal that the penis and the vagina are not only compatible but are a positive-negative force in the universe.
OMG...
I am glad you worded your question the way you have!
Don't mention the word Homosexual and marriage in the same sentence!
Come on you intolerant Christians...have your say!
Don't kid yourself into thinking it's only the religious who don't want this...
They are just the ones being heard the most..
Your going to find out the hard way.
Fear and ignorance, where else?
Being ignorant is not a sin, it is being uninformed, what is a sin is having the intelligence and the resources to look up the truth.
If same sex marriage is treated on an even platform we will loose our blessing. Let me explain in a nut shell what I mean.
In order to maintain an even balance in the population every couple in america must procreate and have 2.3 children. Islam is growing 8 times faster and will double in 14-16 years. Gays cannot have children in the normal way, sperm fertilizing the egg, and a new birth starting. Furthermore we are aborting 4,000 babies a day. In a year that is about one million new births that can contribute to the economy in many ways, especially when you look at the populations of states like Montana who have populations lower than 1 million, not saying we need to move there. This is happening all over europe they allowed this now they are suffering negative growth. Germany -0.2%; -9%
Czech Republic -0.1%; -8%
Japan 0%; -21%
Poland 0%; -17%
Slovakia 0%; -12%
Austria 0%; 8% increase
Italy 0%; -5%
Slovenia 0%; -5%
Greece 0%; -4%
Associated with total fertility rate is the concept of replacement rate. The replacement rate is the number of children each woman needs to have to maintain current population levels or what is known as zero population growth for her and her partner.
In developed countries, the necessary replacement rate is about 2.1. Since replacement can not occur if a child does not grow to maturity and have their own offspring, the need for the extra .1 child (a 5% buffer) per woman is due to the potential for death and those who choose or are unable to have children. In less developed countries, the replacement rate is around 2.3 due to higher childhood and adult death rates.
Therefore, having negative growth, an aging population on our society.
