I believe that if two people are in love, whether they are gay or straight, should have the legal rights to marry. What are your thoughts on gay marriage?
My thoughts are the same as yours. What are your thoughts on gay marriage?
I also think you are wrong. Marriage by definition is between a MAN and a Woman.
I don't however see any problems with Civil Unions.
Gays should be able to have all of the rights that married people have such as property rights, hospital visits etc...Except they should not be allowed to adopt children ( in the case of women, artificially inseminate). Children should only be raised in proper homes with a mother and father, not two mommies or daddies.
1) I feel that gays should have marriage rights because it's not a lifestyle choice like the religious people like to believe. If they would see whats going on with the gay population and question their religion they would know.
2) I don't feel that homosexuality is a sin/wrong just because it's written in the bible. There's other things that were sins in the bible but people don't practice them. If you watch Prop 8 the musical they let you know some of them. I do believe in ethics though.
3) We have all these religions who don't even agree with each other but the one thing that people can't help they all agree that being gay is a sin. It's divisiveness... I'm sorry but sometimes I think evil had a part in organized religion.
We repeatedly see God used as a reason for being against gay marriage, so in that respect there is no sane or valid argument against it. Has anyone actually spoken to God and asked them exactly where they stand on this issue? No? So why bring them into it all the time?
Brainwashed people do not think rationally, their arguments are irrelevant and worthless. It's just a ruddy shame that so many of them are given the ridiculous right to vote on a private matter that doesn't affect them one teeny weeny jot.
I agree with you. Also to all the haters, we don't want a religious marriage, we want a civil marriage. You also have to realize what you believe in the Bible, not everone has to believe. So if we don't believe in the Bible, why should we have to live by it. If were going to Hell, then let us. I'd rather go to hell than go to heaven with a God they way your religion describes him. You know that many things in the Bible have been wrong, so how can you still believe any of it?
And gay marriages does not make society collapse. Look at Canada for instance, they are doing fine and gay marriage is legal there. Also you do not choose to be gay, did you straight people choose one day to be straight. SO in other words your saying you woke up one day and said, I'm not going to be gay, I'm going to be straight. I don't think so. Well we didn't choose to be gay.
I don't want to stop any two people from living together anyway they see fit, no matter I like it or not. However, I do feel a need to protect the institution of marriage which I believe is a cornerstone of our society and I think any diluting the meaning of marriage seriously undermines that.
*****EDIT**********
Incidentally, though I do think God and/or nature BOTH dictate gay union is wrong, I still don't feel it's my place to prevent it from occurring. Each individual has to answer to God and nature themselves. With that said I DO think it's my place to protect the institution of marriage.

Lee– if you're suggesting everything we do is well and good because we're based on ';God's image';, you're on very shaky ground.
They should have the right to marry. Not giving them that right is an act of discrimination in my opinion. For all of those bible buddies out there: God says that the only unforgivable sin is to deny the existence of the holy trinity, and mean it. Every other sin is equal to him. I am going to take a guess here, but I do believe that everybody old enough to be on the internet has sinned before. Am I right? Hey, you might as well have been gay... it is an equal sin in god's book and can be forgiven. Now to get back to the question: I believe that EVERYBODY is equal and that EVERYBODY (except convicted criminals I suppose) deserve ALL of the same rights, anything else is in my mind a form of discrimination... not allowing gays to marry is like treating gays as subhuman to my mind. If they love each other and want to get married, more power to them! Also, I would say that a very low percentage of heterosexual marriages are based of of actual emotional love anymore anyhow.
Yeah, I'm with you. We should encourage and celebrate two people so in love they are wanting to commit to a life together. With a 50% divorce rate, AIDS and other STDs running rampant it makes no sense to say to loving couples, no we don't want you to get married. As a married heterosexual I don't understand the argument that two women or two men marrying weakens heterosexual marriage. If those Right Wingers didn't complain about Britney's 50 hour marriage why are they complaining about Ellen and Portia? Love is love. Gay couples marrying has no impact on my life or marriage.
I agree with you 100%. I have never understood how allowing gays to marry affects straight people. It does not cheapen their marriage or affect their lives. It is not right for someone to say '; I don't like it, so you can't do it';. Each to his own, live and let live.
God calls us to love and be loved. I think he has more important things to worry about than which two people love each other. And i think above all he wants us to be happy and accept others.
Quit all the ';bible'; crap. God made us all in his image and likeness. He does not discriminate and sees us all as equal. Why can't we see that?
LOVE IS LOVE. and no one should be able to take away rights and deny happiness of fellow humans.
Two consenting adults should be able to enter into a legal contract called marriage if they want to. If you don't want to call it marriage, fine, just don't deny people their rights because you don't like what they do in bed!
Gay marriage doesn't exist to believers. No matter what man says, the only union God acknowledges in the holy institution of marriage is between a man and a woman.
People should have the right to do what they want as long as it doesn't affect others.
I'm not for it or against it... just do what you please, it's none of my business
If you don't want a gay marriage then don't have one, but don't interfere with the decisions others make regarding their private lives.
I think that we should be able to marry %26amp; I wish that these bible humpers would get off there asses %26amp; realize that they are the ones that are wrong. If I get any thumbs down on this then they are proving me right.
i see this question on here ALL the time. i think probably every day. i agree with gay marriage. plain and simple.
I agree. If 2 consenting adults want to get married they should be allowed to do so.
its NOT right! read the bible! jesus didnt intend for people to get married boy and boy or girl and girl! ITS NOT RIGHT AT ALL
I don't give a damn about this matter
yeah..
yes they should!!!
legal rights doesn't mean something actually is right. We were never designed or intended to be gay, nor is anyone born that way.
God probids it..
if two pple are in love regardless of there sex or race they should be together there probably gay bc there more excepted by the person they like of the oppistite sex...
--%26gt;im not gay though just my opinion.
God tells us that homosexuality is an abomination and He will not change His mind. It is wrong and will never be right even if some condone it.
I THINK you are wrong.
the bible says it all. how many times will this question get asked???
